Casa do Cabildo

 

The façade of this aristocratic house was built in 1750 upon a drawing of the architect Clemente Fernández Sarela.

The function of this huge baroque building is purely ornamental. The construction, in fact, aimed at closing the square, creating a remarkable scenic and urbanistic effect.

The construction of the Casa do Cabildo has been the involuntary inspiration for the song  "Mi hermana Antonia" (my sister Antonia).
